Interview with Malerose

©Malerose

Summon the Roses had the honor of interviewing visual kei band from Thailand, Malerose.

Can you introduce yourselves to the readers of Summon the Roses?

Hello! We are Malerose. Visual Kei band from Thailand.^^

You will be performing at the World Visual Festival in this month of October. How does it feel to perform at this festival?

We were excited and very glad. Because it was our dream and it was the first time for us to perform in Japan which is the original country for Visual Kei that we like.

There will be many visual bands performing from different parts of the world, how does it feel to represent Thailand as a visual band?

We feel like we were very small because Thailand is not the country that famous about Visual Kei but we are so proud that we are Thailand's representative of Visual Kei band.

How have you been preparing for this Visual Festival?

We have tried very hard since we knew that we have to go to this event. We started to write a new song which show an identity of Thai traditional music mixed with Visual rock style. Then we have designed costumes which also mixed with Thai traditional fabric for this event only.We have practiced a lot and we think that the money that we have paid for the rehearsal studio can buy another return ticket Bangkok- Tokyo.

Do you have any surprises for your fans?

We think that to play music mixed with sound of Thai traditional instruments is the best way to surprise Japanese fans because they might never heard them before and also our costumes must be very surprise for them.

What message are you trying to project with your music to your fans?

Every song that we have chosen to play in this event has it own clear definition, especially the music we composed  and mixed with traditional music. Another one is “Road Runner” which is about chasing a dream and we want to convey that  Thai people also have an ability that if we have tried hard we can reach our goal.

What are some of your greatest accomplishments as a visual kei band?

For us, the greatest accomplishments as a visual kei band is we are the first Visual Kei band in Thailand that get widely recognized in Thailand and also from another country. It was a great success for us because it was very difficult to do like this in our country.

Who is someone that inspires you in your music career?

Each members has different inspirations but mainly we have been inspired by The Gazette and X-Japan.

How do you feel you have evolved since the formation of the band?

We think that we have improved a lot. The obvious fact is that the music, we are more delicate also about the costume that have more details.

Do you have any special plans for the ending of 2015?

Now we have planned to released 2 songs which is an original sountrackof the movie that Eak (vocal) and Thames (bassist) were the main actor in the movie. We are going to released them around December 12, 2015, it is the date that movie is going to be in the theater.

What about a tour? Do you have a world tour planned?

We are going to have a mini concert in Japan Festa in Bangkok, it is the biggest event about Japan in Thailand on January 23,2015. We also have planned to have a concert tour also but not designed about the place yet.

Lastly, do you have a message for your fans?

Lastly, please support us “Malerose”. We intend to create a new phenomenon to Visual Kei throughout the world, we will never stop improving ourselves and create new music for you.^^

Interview with Sliver

©Sliver

Can you please introduce yourselves to the readers of Summon the Roses?

Hi! We are sliver! Vocal  Yuki Guitar MZK (Mizuki) Bass KirA Drum Ryoji.

What is the meaning of Sliver? How did you decide on that band name?

The meaning of “sliver” is literally “fragment”or”to tear”. There are two reasons we decided on that band name; First, we had the spiny impression in the word and sound of “sliver”. We thought it fit for the band that performs the violent tunes. We wanna “hurt” those who “touch” sliver by our tunes. Second, we are like fragments. Our backgrounds (favorite musicians, personality etc.) are totally different. Though beautiful thing might not be formed, if we -scattered fragments- got connected, something wonderful might be formed instead, we thought.

Can you explain to us your music concept?

Our music is making an explosive sound, speedy, heavy, and vigorous. And listeners and we together can act violently with it. But we think it important not only vigor but also a melody.

What are some of the feelings you are trying to express through your music?

Let’s act violently with our music together! That’s our feelings.
Can you tell us about the latest songs you have released. What are you trying to express with these songs?

On November 20th ,2015, we released 3 tunes at once. We’ll explain each tune.
Dreamscape
We wanna express the feelings that the hero of the lyrics believes it’s not despair to go to the other world, but it’s rather despair to be in this world and he wants to go to the other world promptly.
Both until he goes and when he goes, he necessarily feels painful more or less. We express his pain by that unforgiving shout.  Yuki
the VOICE
A woman is the heroine of this tune.
This tune says it’s bitter to be disappointed in love.
The death voice part expresses her rage.  Yuki
As the title says, various “voices” are contained. Look for them!
We contained on purpose “voices” totally not fit for the lyrics. That expresses the complexity of the woman’s heart. -  MZK

 Affair
Though they are (originally) only sexual relations with each other, the man loves her. This tune expresses his complex state of mind unable to say he’s in love with her. -Yuki
How did you collaborate with each other to compose your latest release?
Dreamscape
Words and music by Yuki
Each member arranged his own part.
the VOICE
Word by Yuki, music by MZK
Each member arranged his own part.
Affair
Word and music by Yuki
Each member arranged his own part.
Are you currently working on a music video?
It’s a secret.

How would you describe your style?

We look simple, but in fact profound. We think that good.

Where do you find inspiration when writing music?

MZK: I just decide the approximate genre of tunes. Melody and sounds come to mind spontaneously.  Yuki
I hit upon tunes when riding a motorcycle or walking.

Did you have to make any significant sacrifices to form the band?

We experienced difficulties in training and hitting on various ideas.

What are some important goals you have planned for the upcoming year, 2016?

We have planned several goals. But it’s a secret. 2016 will be the year of silver.

Lastly, do you have a message for your fans?

We’ll make you enjoy. Keep cheering for sliver!

©A-to-J Connections

Summon the Roses had the extraordinary honor of interviewing the leader and guitarist of Rhedoric via Skype. Tomo came to town for an in-store event at Xenon, Los Angeles store on October 23rd. The guitarist participated in a meet and signing session with his dear fans. Tomo of Rhedoric is currently celebrating Rhedoric's major debut with the release of their 1st album "Jiggy" through Universal Music. The rest of the members Yusuge Suga ( ex: 12012) and Yuji (ex: carat) surprised their fans with a special live appearance on screen.

Can you introduce yourself to the readers of Summon the Roses?

Tomo: Hi, this is Tomo. I'm from The Rhedoric, nice to meet you guys. Thank you for this opportunity.

You released your second press Jiggy on October 14th, can you tell us a bit about this release?

Tomo: It's somewhat like a best album for us. We put everything that is good for the band together, since our formation. We released a second press.

You recently signed with Universal Music Japan and went major, how do you feel about this accomplishment?

Tomo: I am very happy about it. We are very honored. On the other hand, the band and myself feel a pressure now. We cannot make the fans regret, by going major. We need to work harder and stronger.

What are some things you are doing to be able to release this pressure you feel now?

Tomo: I try not to think too much, too deep. Whatever at this point we need to do, just focus on that.

How do you feel you have evolved since the beginning of your music career?

Tomo: Compared to the beginning, how I feel about music, I believe it's more precious than before.

What are your expectations now for the upcoming year, 2016?

Tomo: We will be releasing a mini-album in December, we are looking forward to that. By releasing this mini-album, looking forward to 2016, we are definitely and strongly planning of for the states more. Basically, anywhere out of Japan.

Regarding this mini-album that will be released in December, what can you tell us about it?

Tomo: It's the same only stronger. We put more of a modern taste to it.

About your new music video GUILTY, how long did it take for the video be recorded and how was this experience?

Tomo: For the music video for GUILTY, we knew this would be the lead and signature song for the album Jiggy, since we thought this song was currently what The Rhedoric is, we wanted to show it visualized. We shot it with many cameras we had never used before, we many different angles, and a wide stage setting, to express the best quality of this song.

What changes do you feel will come with this major debut?

Tomo: The expectation level from people around the band and myself as well, including the audience, listeners, staff, has become big and will probably get bigger as time passes by. Since I am the leader of The Rhedoric, there is more work that I have to do now.

Are you the lead guitarist as well?

Tomo: Within the music we just randomly choose who will be the lead, so we don't really have a set part, based on the song, we would choose at that point.

How does it feel to be back in LA after coming a few months back to play support on stage with CELL?

Tomo: I really love being in LA, so I wanted to rush and come here. I am feeling good. After I played with CELL, at the VUNITED FEST, when I went back to Japan I heard many replies of my performance was at the show, and it really made me feel like I wanted to come back and be in front of them again.

It seems like you truly love to be here in America. Are there any plans of a World Tour?

Tomo: We are building a project right now, regarding a tour in the states or anywhere overseas, and we are working on that project right now, getting all the detailed straightened out.

What about the rest of the band members, why didn't they travel to the states this time?

Tomo: laughs Let's just say I'm the one who loves overseas more.

Lastly, do you have a message for your fans?

Tomo: To me LA is like a power spot, I really want to keep coming down, spreading out to other states and other countries.  The band wants to pursue the goal of a tour, and do more shows outside of Japan. I really feel every time I come to the states, I feel a big support from the listeners and all the fans. Everyone sharing us on the social network, on Twitter etc. I really see the support and I am very grateful about that. I want to say thank you, we will be pursuing our goals, as much as possible we will keep working hard. Please support us, because it will help us do more. Please watch us, and stay tune for more information that's coming up.

Interview with GYZE

©GYZE

Can you introduce yourselves to the readers of Summon the Roses?

Hello. This is Ryoji of the melodic death metal band, GYZE. I'm the guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, song writer, and producer of GYZE.

You will be performing at the Loud Park Festival 2015, how are you preparing for this performance?

We don't really plan to change anything. We will play as we always do! But before LOUD PARK we are on tour with Children of Bodom, so I think it'll be a really great performance!

Loud Park Festival has an amazing line-up including  Megadeth and Children Of Bodom, are you excited to share the stage with these bands?

Of course! Actually in the beginning I think my brother and I were inspired to form GYZE to cover COB. So this is a  really awesome thing for us. We'll put all of our energy into it!

Your musical arrangement is truly amazing! How do you collaborate with each other when composing music?

Thank you!! Actually, I do the songwriting myself. But Shuji is a better drummer, so after I finish the song I leave the drum part to him. However, aside from that it's all me.

How long does it usually take you to compose a song and complete the recording?

A Recording usually takes a month or two, but I record ideas for songs everyday.

What about your image? Do you target specific brands?

In GYZE the guitar is at the fore front. That along with the melody and fast pace are the real features of our music. However, I think it still has a grand feeling about it. There is also a lot of imagery of my hometown up north in Hokkaido.

You released an album at the beginning of this year. Can you tell us about the composing of this album titled BLACK BRIDE?

As always they are songs I wrote. I feel like this album is more melodic than FASCINATING VIOLENCE and there's a lot more guitar parts.

How long did it take you to complete the recording of this album?

I think it took about two months to record and about two months for Ettore Rigotti to finish the mixing.

What artists are your top musical influences?

There are a lot! First there was KISS. Then I got into stuff like THE OFFSPRING and SUM41 and from there my first taste of metal was IRON MAIDEN and METALLICA. After that I was listening to power metal bands like HELLOWEEN before finally becoming interested in MELODIC DEATH METAL. I really love CHILDREN OF BODOM who we are on tour with just now. In Japan SERPENT is a melodeath favorite. And DISARMONIA MUNDI who produced our album are awesome!
Aside from metal I love a lot of pianists, but if we get into that the list will never end.

How do you think Gyze has evolved since the formation of the band?

I don't really know, but I always want the band to grow and evolve. Anyhow, I wanna play some fucking great metal!

How is Gyze different from other Jrock bands? What is a unique quality you possess?

GYZE has a more European metal sound. We wanna be a proper heavy metal band. In Jrock I feel like there aren't really any other bands like GYZE. Even in the international metal scene I don't think there are too many lead guitarist who shout like me either.

Where do you find the inspiration for your lyrics?

Every time is a bit different. After I've written the song I write the lyrics during recording. Sometimes really unpleasant feelings make great songs.

What projects are you working on at this moment?

Other than GYZE? My life is just GYZE and fishing! Aside from that I have my brand, BLACK BRIDE.  It's full of cool, stylish items and we ship overseas, so please check it out! Website: blackbridejp.com

Are you planning on adding any more band members in the future?

No, we don't have any plans to add anyone.

Do you have any plans of performing overseas anytime soon?

Right now we're on tour in China and Hong Kong. Then we have LOUD PARK and after that we're off to Germany to play a show on the 17th.

Do you have a message for your fans?

Hello! We really want to tour the US someday! Hope to see you all soon! Please check out GYZE's music!

Can you give us a short explanation of your musical concept?

Heavy and aggressive melody by 7-string guitars, a 5-string bass with clean tone voices.
At the bottom of our music, we have one concept "the one giving the seeked truth. "

How did you come up with your band name Insomnia?

Insomnia generally means a sleep disorder in which there is an inability to fall asleep or to stay asleep as long as desired. However, in our case, Somnus in Roman mythology is the derivation of iNSOMNiA. Our consciousness in Somnus is iNSOMNiA.

How did you all come together to form Insomnia?

Formed by mainly Rai and Aoya (NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST roadies).
Ameno, Aoya, Yua, and Rai, all 4 was going separate ways, separate bands, but fatefully we got together and formed iNSOMNiA. Additionally, we knew Rai, a main composer , has a great enthusiasm toward composing songs, so we wanted to make a stage for him to show his songs.

In October you will be releasing a single, can you tell us a little about this?

10/5 release

What about your image concept? Do you work on your own costume designs?

Feelings of lapse of virtues and coldness like absolute zero.

What message are you trying to give to your fans through your music?

Our music is very heavy and fierce, but you will soon notice a delicate sound.

Can you tell us a unique detail of each band member?

Each member looks like they are always in a smug face. That is not true; we smile a lot :D

Who has inspired you in your music career?

Ameno:黒夢,SuG,蜉蝣,cali≠gari,L'Arc~en~Ciel
Aoya:High and Mighty Color, Nocturnal Bloodlust
Yua:T.M.Revolution、abingdon boys school
Rai:Janne Da Arc,DELUHI,摩天楼オペラ,NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST

Where do you find inspiration when composing music?

Rai:In this world, there are some sorts of spiritual concepts such as Anima Mundi, Akashic Records and so forth. I scoop up a flow of these concepts and compose music.

Do you have any plans of performing overseas in a near future?

Sooner or later!

Could you see yourself doing something else other than music?

No, what we want to do is music. Music is the only answer we can tell.

What are your goals with Insomnia?

Would say there is no goal because a hurdle will lead a higher hurdle. This process will never end. We are always trying to get over a higher hurdle.

Do you have a message for your fans?

Ameno: Never look away from me and follow me!
Aoya: Our movement has just begun. Dont miss our activities.

Interview with Stragraph

©Stragraph

Can you please introduce yourselves to the readers of Summon the Roses?

Hello.Nice to meet you.We are the Japanese rock band  Stragraph .

Your musical concept is unique and powerful. Can you tell us how did you come up with your musical concept?

Stragraph ‘s concept is based on our beliefs . We wanted to a create something cool, something to cherish , our own genre of rock. Growing up in Japan , it made us think to create  a pure Japanese rock . It's important  to remember to all the people living in this era what a pure Japanese rock style sounds like.

What about the formation of the band? How did you come together to form Stragraph?

Stragraph was founded in June 2013. Ryo and Akira have been active in the same band. Soushi and Ryo were  classmates in the junior high school. Afterwards  Kyohei joined the band.

You released a mini-album DETERMINATION on 2015/05/31, can you tell us a bit about the making of this mini-album?

Yes , this album is  Stragraph ‘s second album . The album’s title “DETERMINATION”  represents   our determination. So,we want you to feel Stragraph’s  music and intentions.

If you have a live performance coming up in September. What can the fans expect from this performance?

We promise to fill the hearts of all  of you with excitement,  happiness and courage.

Interview with Lacroix Despheres

Summon the Roses interview with vocalist and composer of Lacroix Despheres.

Can you introduce yourselves to the readers of Summon the Roses?

Hi! I'm Sho, the vocalist and composer of Lacroix Despheres. Thank you for the offer of an interview.

How did you all come together to form the band?

Lacroix Despheres was formed in 2006 by lead vocalist Sho and soprano vocalist Saya.“Visual Kei band can become a composite art.” Based on this belief, we start this band and perform the live that fused the theatrical art such as opera or musical theater and a Visual Kei bands. I graduated from Kunitachi College of Music with a bachelor's degree in Classical Composition. When I was in College, I formed Lacroix Despheres.

Please tell us about your band name Lacroix Despheres. What is the meaning and how did you come up with this name?

Lacroix Despheres are two french words "La croix des sphéres" meaning "The cross of the sphere"We wish that the concepts of  "soprano and male vocal", "band sound and orchestra sound","rock music and classical music"and "the melody and the dialog" to turn into a cross and our band to fly and spreading all over the world.

Can you please tell us about your musical concept which is absolutely beautiful. How did you all come up with the idea of incorporating these instruments into the band?

The instrumentation of our music is a rock band and the full orchestra. By rock band and orchestra come together, it allows more variety of musical expression. The reason why there are flutist and oboist in our band is that there was the fatal encounter with them.

Who is the main composer of the band? How do you collaborate with each other when composing music?

Our music has been composed by Sho. Like classical music, the phrase of all musical instruments is made by him, and the member receives a sheet of music and a demo track. The member plays music written to a sheet of music by each interpretation and expresses it. Unexpected expression is often born, and it is one of the pleasure of the music.

Do you consider your musical concept to be somewhat romantic?

Because I love romantic music, I think there is the such kind of element in the music of Lacroix Despheres.

The artwork of your albums are truly beautiful. Can you please tell us about your artwork. Who designs all the artwork for your albums?

Thank you very much. All artwork has been created by me and Saya. After determining the concept and direction in discussions with Saya, Saya will draw a rough sketch. In the case of design illustrations tone, Saya has been produced using a pen tablet. For collage art and the final layout, I have produced using Photoshop and Illustrator.

What was the most difficult part about forming the band? What obstacles did you come across?

It was most difficult to find the band members. There are few people who can play the role of the story on stage while playing the symphonic metal. Now, I am very happy to be able to work together with the splendid members.

Your costumes are stunning. Can you tell us about your image concept?

Thank you very much. Our costume has the motif of Europe after the Renaissance era that is the stage of the story "Dernier Paradis".

The vocals are impressive. Did you receive prior vocal training before forming the band, or were you born with this talent?

I started to study classical singing methods when I was in high school. I've learned the vocalization and expression techniques, but my voice was given from my parents.

Do you have an specific ritual before a live performance?

Before we go up on stage, we formed a circle with all our members and staffs, and pumped up. In addition, at the venue before the curtain, "The Concerto for Organ, Timpani and Strings in G minor" composed by Francis Poulenc is flowing in background.

What artists/bands have inspired you in your musical journey?

There are a lot of great artists and bands, I've learned many important things from them. For example, X Japan taught me coolness of the band music, and MALICE MIZER taught me the possibility of the Visual Kei band. In addition, I learned the influence that music gave theatrical art through Andrew Lloyd Webber and Wagner, and I was taught the rich sound of the orchestra by Maurice Ravel.

Where does the inspiration for your lyrics come from? Are your lyrics telling a story? Or are they based on personal experiences?

All the lyrics of Lacroix Despheres are contents along the original story "Dernier Paradis”. I got an idea from historic facts, people and books, and wrote this story.

What dreams you have for Lacroix Despheres? What are your goals?

I want to prove that the Visual Kei band which is Japan's original culture can reach to a level of the composite art. For this purpose, we will produce various stories and perform it as Lacroix's rock opera in future. And I want to see that a lot of bands or musical companies perform our rock opera all over the world.

What projects are you working at the moment?

We are making the album "Dernier Paradis act3". Schedule has been delayed than originally planned, but because we work hard in order to better work, please look forward to it.

Do you have a world tour in mind?

Of course yes! Already we have received an offer from some countries of South America and Europe. We are looking for more partners who will support the overseas performances.

Lastly, do you have a message for your devoted fans?

Thank you for always supporting us. I am very glad that you find us in this large world. The message from you in the Twitter, Facebook and any other SNS makes me very happy and more creative. We can make our work simply because there is you.  In other words, it means that you make our work with us. When more people know Lacroix Despheres and support us, we can make a more splendid work and realize world tour! Let's realize the dream together!!!

Interview with Imari Tones Japanese Christian Rock Band

©Imari Tones

Summon the Roses had the pleasure of interviewing Japan's first Christian rock band! We had a small talk with Tak from Imari Tones, and he shared with us some awesome information.

Can you tell us a bit about how you all became Christians and decided to form a Christian rock band?

It's a long story but it happened in 2007-2008. We were just a "normal" rock band based in Japan, but we decided to "dedicate our music to God". We met this particular Christian singer/songwriter and that person inspired us. Soon later the drummer back then left the band because he could not agree to the "religious" direction the band was going. One thing I want to emphasize is we didn't became a Christian rock to play boring music. We became a Christian rock band to play more exciting, more awesome rock music. We believe that "Faith" is very important to heavy metal music. It's all about what you believe in.

How has Imari Tones evolved since the formation of the band?

This band started as my (Tak - singer/guitarist) personal project. I recorded some music just by myself. In 2004 we actually became a band, consisted of 3 persons. Back then we were more like Japanese alternative band. Somewhere between Japanese alternative, hard rock, and J-pop. We made some awesome music but soon later the band broke up, I mean almost broke up. However, somehow we were found by some famous Japanese producer and they took us to Germany to record an album. That's when we started to sing in English, aiming to reach for an international market. Also that was when we started to play "classic hard rock" like 1980's style, which was our musical root. In spite of making an album with famous producer(s), we could not get signed to any major label. The band members gone and I considered quitting music. But eventually I started the band again, real small with local boys. I was not thinking about going big at all. But that's when we met this Christian singer/songwriter and I think we found the reason to play music. After that, we have been trying to make this "Japan-Metal-Jesus" music, which no other band is able to make. We are not commercially successful or anything but it does not matter, because that's not our purpose anymore.

You have performed in America before, any plans of coming back?

We'd love to come back to USA and play. It's almost 3 years since we visited USA last time. At this point, we are talking about the possibility of going to Nashville TN next year, to attend a Christian music meeting called "The Objective" in May. We hope we can book some shows around that area.

You seem to be very successful here in America. Is targeting the American audience very important to you?

Somehow our musical direction, musical taste is more suited for international audience. But that's not something we planned. We just happened to play that kind of heavy metal / hard rock. (You probably know the difference between Japanese domestic music market and international music market. Japanese music scene is very unique and different.) Also it was our "homework" to go out and reach for international audience after our Germany/USA experience in 2006/2007. At the same time we have been trying to reach Japanese audience. It may sound funny but it is easier when you have some success in USA, because people now see us differently and they will appreciate our hard rock style even though we are singing in English. Things are getting better in Japan and more and more we are able to reach Japanese people. We will write more in Japanese language in our next project.

What are some routines you do before a live performance? Do you pray before going up on stage?

We occasionally pray before stage, but not every time. We do it less often than we used to. Throughout the years it became more of "trusting each other and trusting God" and things became more natural. However, at weekly band rehearsal we do some prayer before practice. It's really "casual", though. If we play some "big shows", yes we will pray. Because we certainly will get nervous. Other than that, we make sure we had enough cup of coffee before shows.

How important is it for you as a band to share a positive message with the world?

All of us, we always loved "positive" music, rather than "darker" bands. They were not necessarily Christian music. For me, it was Van Halen. For our bassist Hassy, it was Mr.Big. For our drummer Jake, I don't know, he is really a mysterious guy. But he is really funny. We love playing positive music, because we need hope to live and we need it ourselves badly. No matter what kind of music we play, we love to entertain and our goal is to make people smile.

Can you describe in your own words the meaning of "Faith"?

Wow that's a really difficult question. Let me put it this way. There are so many things in this world. So many styles of music. So many people and so many opinions. For example, because I'm a guitar player, there are so many guitars out there. So many styles and so many sounds. However, you can pick just one and say "This is mine. This is my style. This is me." How can you do that? It's incredible. How can you choose one from millions and say "This is it!"? There is no doubt, no regret and no distraction. Our life is pretty much the same. So many people, so many life. But you can choose your own life and you say "This is my life. This is my mission." I think that's the power of Faith, and there I believe in God's guidance.

In your biography, you have mentioned you would like for Japan to become a better country. What are some changes you would like to see in your own country?

This is another difficult question. Japan is a good place. But we need just a little bit more of "freedom" here. Freedom of mind, soul and spirit. Also we need some more courage to say right things. Other than that, well, maybe we need less Pachinko places and instead we want more churches. Good, Christian, Churches. Also we need more churches where we can play rock music. Most churches in Japan, we can't play loud music!

You have performed at clubs and churches before. Can you describe the difference between playing in front of a church VS playing at a regular show?

Playing churches: Getting up in early morning.
Playing clubs: Coming home in early morning.

What song would you say has a special meaning to you?

We have so many songs and all of them are special. However, at this point, I mention this particular song called "Unknown Road". It's a song from our new album "Revive The World". It has a special message. We are living in a world where things are so uncertain. Nobody knows what the future holds. Even more so in Japan after 2011 nuclear power plant disaster. I think each day each moment is miracle and this is a song about living this unknown future.

What projects are you currently working on?

We soon will release the new album titled "Revive The World". We recorded it last year and finally we are ready to release, in September 2015. We are now working on the next project called "Jesus Wind", which is a concept album about Japanese history. We are already playing a couple of songs from that album at our local shows. We probably will record it next year. After that, actually we have already written all the songs for our "next next" project. That will be more "Japanese traditional" direction in musical style. Language wise it will be half Japanese and half English. It will be a challenge for us, musically speaking. But we can't wait to work on those songs.

Can you give us a message for your fans?

Thank you very much for finding us. We are just a small independent band in this big world. But we are trying to do something special and something to make you happy. Every person is special, no matter who you are and where you are from. We are just some ordinary Japanese boys but we have found this "Japan-Metal-Jesus" music we can make. I believe God has a plan for all of us. So God bless you and keep on rocking!

Interview with "Neosexual" Rock duo from Japan ADAMS!

Summon the Roses had the pleasure of interview "Neosexual" rock duo from Japan ADAMS. Check out our awesome interview with these two awesome Jrockers who are impacting the world with their amazing talent. The duo announced that they will perform at North Carolina’s Ichibancon on January 1st, 2016, and will put on a  New Year’s Eve show in Tennessee, USA. More information will be released soon and we will keep you updated.

Could you introduce yourselves to the readers of Summon the Roses?

Hello, we are ADAMS, a “Neosexual” rock duo from Japan.

Can you explain to us what  is the meaning of ADAMS and the main reason why you decided to form?

We decided to form ADAMS after a first experience together in another band. We played together, but it didn’t last. So we decided to create something new. At first it was supposed to be a solo project for ADAM (the vocalist), and I (Shota) was the producer. But finally, as I’m also a guitarist, we formed a duo, and we chose this specific concept. The name “ADAMS” comes from the Genesis, the story of Adam and Eve. We are “ADAM”, but actually we are 2, so we are “ADAMS”, and we share an universal love with “EVES”. EVES are, actually, our fans. This is for the concept.

I think I must be clear and honest: I’m a musician, and I want to spread my music. But all over the world, you can find great (and unknown) music. You go on Youtube, there if you type ANY keyword, you can find good music. The only way to be really “listened” is to find a specific market, a “free spot” in the music industry. It’s what we did with ADAMS. We have a specific concept, we are boys with makeup, using a BL imagery, we have something original, different, “wrong”. So it’s interesting. I think. And I think it’s the only way to make the difference with the other bands… I do that for everything. When I chose the title “Dizzy Love”, it was important for me to create a new expression. “Dizzy Love” was never used before…

Can you explain the term NEOSEXUAL for those who are not familiar with it?

For us, NEOSEXUAL means “across genders”. We share a message of love which is a universal feeling, whatever your gender, identity, sexuality. This is how we feel love and music should be.

You want to express love through your music and lyrics. Why do you feel expressing love is so important?

Love is everywhere. Everything in the world is only about love.

How do you collaborate with each when composing songs?

Shota: I write all the music and most of the lyrics. ADAM wrote also some lyrics. Actually I compose and record most of the tracks, then we add ADAM’s vocals. It’s very simple. I like to compose and create alone, in my studio.

Can you talk a little bit about your most recent album SEXPLOSION. What feelings and emotions are you trying to express through this album?

SEXPLOSION is our most danceable album. We wanted to add some club/dance sound to our work, and also some “dangerous” feeling. That’s why both sound and lyrics are strong and deep.

You have an outstanding fan-base. What do you think fans love most about ADAMS?

Shota: Our fanbase is a mix between visual kei fans and BL (Boys Love) fans. Step by step we gather other types of people but at first, I clearly targeted this 2 groups of people, especially in Japan. They are hot scenes, both. Always looking for originality and new trends. That’s why I chose to express art and music in these specific scenes. They like us because we offer something different and an original concept, and also because we reach them with our message. Love is universal!

Who has been your greatest influence in the music industry?

Clearly Kiyoharu (Kuroyume), for both of us.

What goes through your mind when you're performing in front of your fans?

We always want to give the best. We receive very warm feelings while on stage, smiling faces, sometimes crying from joy, it’s an achievement and a great satisfaction.

What is your favorite atmosphere when writing a song?

Shota: I need to be alone, in silence, in my room. With sometimes a glass of bourbon, and that’s all. I create mostly at night.

Is there a special song that brings deep memories into your mind?

Dizzy Love, our first song, because it reminds us the beginning of our project and the first steps. It’s our main song and the “entrance” to our world.

Can you explain to us a little bit about your fashion style and what are some of your favorite brands?

ADAM is a big fan of Vivienne Westwood. I wear it too, especially for the accessories, but I’m more casual. My style never changed with the time: classic, stylish, white and black mostly.

What are some projects that you have in mind for the future?

We will release a best of album at the end of 2015, featuring new songs and remixes. We will work with some DJ’s and producers from Japan. Among them is KALM, a great composer active in the electro and VK scene. We’ll promote this CD, called “Original Love”, all around the world.

What has been ADAMS greatest achievement so far?

Our international activities, probably. This is clearly not something we planned at the beginning, but it came by “accident” and grew fast.

Do you have any plans of performing in American anytime soon?

Yes, we’ll be there for New year. For now we plan 2 shows in Tennessee and North Carolina but we expect more! We also hope to go back to Mexico and play in Latin America.

Do you have a message for your devoted fans?

Thank you for reading us, and please come to meet us on tour! Love!
